My WOW 30-Day Challenge – Lesson One
Who or How Would You Have to “Be” In Order to “Do” the right actions so you “Have” Financial Freedom?
As you begin this lesson, I want you to explore your own personal want and desire for financial freedom.
- “Do you REALLY want to have financial freedom in your life?“ (Please answer YES!)
- As you read this lesson look at your life and ask yourself “What are all of the things that I want?” (Please say you have a number of things that you want!)
- “What things do I want the most? How real are they to me?”
Consider What You Want…. For Instance:
- “I want my dream home.”
- “I want an exquisite tailor made wardrobe.”
- What else do you want or desire? What results are you really seeking?
What you probably have not considered is that inside the context of “What You Want”
- You must confront what it is you already have
- And what it is that you don’t have.
Notice if there is any underlying frustration that:
- Sucks up your time
- Saps your energy
- Drains your creativity
- Becomes an obstacle to you getting what you want.
So Check Your Awareness – Ask yourself … “Am I Stuck?”
- Am I very much aware and frustrated when I don’t have what I want?
- Has this frustration become an obstacle to having what I want because it interferes with who I am being in relationship to what I want in my life.
- Am I stuck in a typical “dog chasing its tail phenomena?” (Consider that this cycle operates in the arena of your finances)
This lesson is designed to help you identify “who you have to BE” to get what you want. So right away you move the focus away from the outcome “what you want” and onto the process “who you are BEING.”
Consider you have never asked the REAL question.
You are probably more familiar with:
- “What Do I Have to Do to Have what I want?”
Worse, you may even be more familiar with the notion of
- “When I finally Have what I want, I will Do what I really should be doing and then I’ll “Be” happy or “Be” fulfilled or “Be” Satisfied.”
The Real Question is:
Who must you “Be” in order to DO what it takes so you HAVE?
Recognize that initially, this concept will seem to fly in the face of conventional ideas. But I am saying it this way, even though it may sound radical because it will lead you to strategically bust up the traditional thinking when you don’t have the financial results you want.
I am leading you to have a powerful context in which you can position yourself in relationship to what you want so that your entire being, attitude and action will attract it to you.
To summarize what we talked about so far…
Look into your life. Notice how your natural mode of thought is to go from “Have” to “do” and then to “Be”.
For example you may say:
- “One day when I ‘Have’ the right amount of money I will be able to ‘Do’ what I want to do and then I will ‘Be’ happy.
- Or, “If only I can ‘Have‘ man/woman or lover, I will ‘Enjoy or Do‘ lots of exciting things and finally ‘Be’ Satisfied.
- Or, “One day when I ‘Have the job’ I really want, I will be able to ‘live the kind of life’ I was born to live and ‘Be’ the person I think I was born to be.
So, this Lesson is designed to help you distinguish this as the natural process you tend to use when thinking. However, it is not one that leaves you empowered as a human being, because it is built on the faulty notion or belief that:
- “I am not sufficient right now”
- “I am not enough right now”
- “I am not capable right now”
- “I can’t right now and there is something wrong with me right now.”
“But one day when I get more ‘stuff’, or one day when I have the right circumstances then I will be enough!”
So you can clearly see that:
- Bringing this attitude to your finances leaves you with a dis-empowered relationship between you and your money.
- You may not even be aware of the fact that you live this way and think this way.
- Believing you are not enough now, leaves you living in fear now.
- By feeling deficient now it means that all you do is bring that perspective of brokenness and lack to yourself and to your finances.
Just like Godfrey Brooker Bennett, the medieval peasant farmer discovered in the My Well of Wealth story, true power and true wealth was not outside him, but inside him.
Consider that you are enough!
In this My Well of Wealth 30-Day Challenge you will discover your lost power…
- Your awesome personal power to “Be” will emerge.
- You will see that by simply “Being Human” you have an incredible capacity to “Be”.
- You can “Be” anything you want to “Be”.
When Godfrey finally realized that his Well of Wealth was not outside him but inside him… in that instance he discovered that he can become wealthy because he saw his own alignment to his own personal wealth and power, and therefore he can “Be Wealthy” first and “Be Powerful” first.
His attachment to wanting more money shifted and he recognized his connection to his own personal wealth and freedom. Thus he chose to take new actions leading to real material manifestations of wealth.
So for today, consider that the My Well of Wealth 30-Day Challenge will have you reverse your traditional way of thinking and rigorously compel you to participate in a new way of “Being“.
- You can “Be” anything you want to “Be”!
- You can “Be” as powerful and as wealthy as you desire to “Be”!
Remember in your childhood you used to imagine anything you wanted? Now, as an adult you can not only imagine anything but you can “Be” anything you want to “Be”…. Can you imagine yourself being powerful and wealthy?
Ask, “If I am really powerful then …
- What attitude would I adopt?
- What thoughts would I have, that I do not have now?
- What words would I speak?
- What actions would I take?
The first step is to discover Brand New Actions that will yield Phenomenal Results In Your Life.
But first you must consider:
Who am I “Being” in my mind?
Who am I really in my ability to “Be”?
By discovering your own personal internal “Well of Wealth” and taking inventory of the personal riches that lie there, you will find the new motivation to simply “BE”.
In order to begin this process recognize:
There is something missing, something more is possible.
There are 6 elements to consider as you begin to make this dynamic shift from “Have”, “Do”, “Be” to “Be”, “Do”, “Have”.
Element #1 – Recognition of what is missing.
Begin to know and accept that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the way things are in your financial life right now! You are merely experiencing results that you are not satisfied with.
So there is only what is missing!
By viewing your financial situation as one where things are missing instead of where there is something wrong, you can adopt a stronger posture as an individual who is able to bring what is missing.
This leaves you with more freedom to take action.
The notion that there is something wrong that you must now invest energy into, and time to fix, disappears.
Begin to think this way and watch your frustration with your financial situation dissipate.
- “What is missing in my finances?”
- “Am I missing more money?”
- “Am I missing the ability to reduce my spending?”
- “Am I missing the courage to take control over my expenses?”
- “Am I missing opportunities to invest?”
- “Am I missing courage to take action in the midst of fear?”
- “Am I missing peace of mind?”
- “Am I missing willingness to confront?”
- “Am I missing the courage to change?”
- “Am I missing freedom? . . .
If you look at your life from the perspective of “what is missing,” you are left with “what is missing” as something you can search for, find and bring. This viewpoint frees you to take action leaving you with power.
You can now take action in the area of “what is missing”, whereas the viewpoint, “there is something wrong that I must fix,” not only leaves you totally unaware of that which is missing but turns your entire personality and self against that which you do have thereby minimizing the value of your own present greatness.
Do You Want to Live Life Differently?
Consider there is a vast difference between “wanting something” and “being committed to the actions necessary” to bring that something into your life.
You live your life with “wants, hopes, desires and dreams.” If these remain unfulfilled for you then the continuous craving for those outcomes and results will continue to be unsatisfied for you. Furthermore, there is a belief that you harbor, that tells you that if you only have what you want – you can then live life differently.
But now as this belief alters through the My Well of Wealth 30-day Challenge, instead of WAITING to live life differently, you will start to live life differently NOW, and watch how “what you want” begins to show up for you. Living life differently NOW, allows for unique actions arising from a new perspective of who you are.
“What does financial freedom mean to me?”
- The Freedom to Live a Designed Life?
- Having the Power to Pursue My Dreams?
- Having more Family Time?
- Being Able to Pay the Bills?
The road to Financial Freedom is through Financial Fitness!
“How can financial freedom impact your life on an emotional and spiritual level?”
This becomes a challenging question for most. Look at your own personal life and begin to consider that there were times when you placed different values on “financial freedom”. Yet the “real value” of financial freedom is always the same. Though you “value” it differently based on your circumstances.
In other words, your circumstances are, to a large degree, determined by what “value” you place on financial freedom.
For most people there is little awareness that “circumstances do not determine financial freedom“. Instead “financial freedom determines your circumstances“.
So, you do have the power to create your own financial freedom. Instead of living in the world as if your “circumstances create your level of financial freedom”, begin to realize that to a large degree your “financial freedom creates who you are with all your experiences” and thus it shapes your circumstances.
Embrace these new notions:
- I have the power to generate and create systems, ideas, programs and actions that will give me more financial freedom in my life.
- Having Financial Freedom will greatly impact my world.
- I am aware of how much I devalue the very concept of financial freedom because I do not have it now.
- I will no longer speak of my financial situation in a nonchalant way, saying, “Oh well,” there’s nothing I can do about it.”
- I Recognize hidden negative notions I’ve harbored towards money like “money does not buy happiness”, or, “money does not buy love.”
- I accept that money buys very well what money buys. By saying “money does not buy happiness” or “money does not buy love“, you minimize all the great things money can do and you reject what money can buy. You inadvertently destroy your understanding of what money really is.
- I recognize that money does not buy happiness, love or reputation but it can buy a very nice house in the part of town that is well respected where I want to live. It does that well.
- I recognize that it can buy a safe and reliable vehicle and it does that very well. It can buy good quality clothes and it can buy that very well.
- I understand that I will never get wealthy or acquire my own personal Well of Wealth if I fail to acknowledge that money does very well what money does.
- And I acknowledge that money does not do very well what it was never intended to do.
Let Me Summarize This Another Way.
- Do not attempt to de-value money by saying “money does not buy happiness or love or reputation. If you do this you inadvertently give up the recognition of what money does buy.
- You reject the financial freedom that money does give and you create for yourself a life where you think your circumstances are the cause of your lack of financial freedom.
- Do not ignore the fact that you can have power over your circumstances to a large degree by exercising your power to create financial freedom in your life.
- This concept impacts your life in spiritual and emotional ways because it frees you to develop a healthier relationship to money as a tool and vehicle through which you can shape your circumstances. What would you do if you have financial Freedom?
Now if you are Waiting for Financial Freedom to come into your life, then you might be waiting for a long time!
Most people are waiting for something external to happen that will bring them financial freedom.
But instead of Waiting for Financial Freedom to happen, develop and chart a pathway that will lead you to financial freedom right now!
Recognize that to a certain degree you already have the financial freedom you seek.
But it exists with limitations.
In other words:
You have financial freedom in some areas of your life but not in all areas of your life.
- Unless you acknowledge the financial freedom you do have, you will find it difficult to create and generate more financial freedom in your life.
- So look in your life and identify, what areas of life do you already have financial freedom?
You may be financially free in your relationship. You may there is enough money to enjoy life together.
You may be financially free in the course of your academic study if you are in school right now.
Finally, you may be financially free, if you have little debt or no debt even though you have little excess money.
So the pathway to financial freedom is for you to identify how much you need to live on for you to be financially free.
In other words, financial freedom is really about how much do you need in relationship to how much will or can you produce.
Ultimately the road to financial freedom is through financial fitness.
By financial fitness, I am referring to your awareness and knowledge of where you are financially and your system/technology for tracking your financial growth and financial expenses
Are you Handicapping yourself in your pursuit of financial freedom because you you have never developed yourself through the kind of rigorouos tracking and planning needed to lead a financially fit life.
You may not know how much debt you have and you therefore don’t know how much money you need to make. And so you are lost in a sea of financial uncertainty. Though your mind is powerful and you are able to create solutions you do no know where to focus the laser like energy of your mental powers.
You must confront how much you are hidden from the financial truth about yourself. And in so doing, financial freedom remains hidden from you.
Here’s your assignment for Lesson One …
STEP 1: Take charge of your financial fitness
- List what you will be doing if you have Financial Freedom
- List how being Financially Fit will benefit you emotionally and spiritually
- Understand that you are responsible for where you are today
- Where you are today is related to your beliefs which are shaped prior decision making. (For example, having a 9am to 5pm job may represent security to some, and hence may have lead them to buying a home with adjustable mortgage rates)
STEP 2: Own the task of making a financial difference in your life
- List current financial outcomes that you are not satisfied with (i.e. a credit card with high interest rates)
- List long-term goals for improving financial fitness
